DanceHouse is the home to Dance Ireland, the representative artist oriented body for dance in Ireland that enables those who share a love of dance at all levels to explore their passion alongside facilitating the creative potential of dance artists.
They asked us to provide a brand refresh and new environmental design for their purpose built facility that would embody their practice of providing new perspectives in dance and that echoed their strategy that dance be a valued and confident element of peoples’ lives. This brief from a respected client of pressured means, prompted a resourcefulness of creativity in our response. We used large scale graphics of dance artists that captured the energy and movement within the building as well as ultimately providing a connection across a myriad of architectural voids. We applied colour in a strategic way to aid navigation and to enhance the sense of community within the organisation as well as bridging and exploring liminal space with type that reflects movement. By utilising captured performance imagery of Dance Ireland artists and a dynamic type and use of colour in both environmental design and print, we were able to develop a consistent tone aligned to the Dance Ireland ethos as well as conveying their inherent vivacity and innovation.
