Abbey Theatre – The Hanging Gardens (2013)

The Hanging Gardens by Frank McGuinness offers an unflinching look at the reality of Irish family life – selfishness, anger and resentment that grows for years, tempered by a snarky Irish wit.

The core idea was to show each of the characters without needing to resort to using headshots of the actors. A simple but bold illustration worked with the themes of blood, growth and buried memories and feelings.
