Castor Projects is a gallery run in a basement of a café in New Cross which was set up by gallerist Andy Wicks. I was approached to create a flexible identity that Andy could use across numerous exhibitions and formats. Creating layouts that Castor could re-use was the driving force behind the identities palette.

The logo needed to be bold and distinctive and Andy was adamant that he wanted it to use the form language of the high end art scene in London. The logo is a customised cut of the Factory typeface by Alias foundry. The letters were reshaped to suit the form of the word and thickened in parts to allow for better reproduction on-screen and at smaller print sizes. It is the consistent part of the brand that, over time, layouts evolve and change.

The colourful and bold sans serif paired with full bleed immersive imagery allowed the team to make new layouts for an extensive series of exhibitions, but it also allowed enough flex to make sure each show felt unique.
