M.CO were asked to develop an engaging series of large format graphics and imagery for use in the Paediatric Outpatient and Urgent Care Centre at Connolly Hospital. The team undertook extensive research to ensure the graphic solution was appropriate for children of all ages as well as being engaging and fun.

Taking a hand drawn approach, a large collection of indigenous Irish animals and their environments were created to form a cohesive landscape throughout the hospital.

It was important for the children to feel comfortable and safe in the hospital environment and to minimise the impersonal and imposing nature of building. Ultimately, we wanted to create a sense of adventure and journey throughout the natural and colourful landscape portrayed.

Spanning three floors of the hospital building, the M.CO design team created largescale manifestations on both walls and glazing, allowing the children to interact with the animals in a very tactile way and encouraging their imaginations to take them away from the hospital environment.
