Datsyuk — Rain World

This concept album on rain and religion features verses from some of the leading figures of cloud/emo rap, including Bones, Horse Head, and Wicca Phase Springs Eternal. Producer Mark Michalski, aka Datsyuk, got in touch with me because he liked something I’d made for rapper Little Pain and wanted something similar. I made an isometric grid, and filled it with my own letterforms, clouds, and impossible objects. It took ages and I had a great time. Designing for underground music is liberating, because concern with persuasive communication is abandoned in favour of making something that is a visual equivalent to music — something to induce aesthetic pleasure for its own sake.
