The Seagull Bakery is an Artisan Sourdough Bakery based in the seaside village of Tramore. The corner unit was acquired and completely renovated to be reborn as a working bakery. Our task was to plan, configure and create a space that was sympathetic to the requirements of a busy bakery and small café. The pared back shop frontage reflects the artisan values and philosophy of the bakery. This approach is carried inside where the counter, stools, menu signs, shelves and pegboards were custom made to fit the space. Furniture grade birch plywood was chosen as a material for its inherent beauty and adaptability to fit the complex shapes of the space. The reclaimed slate counter top provides a characterful surface combined with plywood shingles to add texture and the suggestion of the rooftops where Seagulls perch. The printed collateral continues with the restrained approach and a range of organic cotton tote bags carry a playful typographic Seagull illustration.
